Arrested Group-IB founder Sachkov’s mother asks Putin for fairness
MOSCOW, Oct 6 (PRIME) -- Lyudmila Sachkova, mother of arrested Ilya Sachkov, founder and head of Group-IB, specializing in prevention and investigation of cyberattacks, has asked President Vladimir Putin for fair investigation, according to her letter released on Wednesday by Forbes.
“I am the mother of Ilya Sachkov arrested on September 28 under state treason charges without disclosing what was the treason. But I am also a Russian citizen and from this position I would like to know what treason was committed by Ilya Sachkov,” the letter read.
Sachkova said that her son is a true patriot and a devout believer and that he could not have betrayed his country. “I implore you to gain insight into the case of Ilya Sachkov fairly and free him,” his mother said.
The Lefortovo District Court of Moscow arrested Sachkov for two months. Such cases are usually considered behind closed doors. Sachkov can face a sentence of 12 to 20 years in prison.
